It’s the most important concurrent to the Desperate Housewives, I guess! In the USA, they can watch the second season now and the suspense is as huge as in the first one!!

Prison Break is telling the story of a man (Michael Scofield) who wants to help his brother (Lincoln Burrows - who thinks he’s innocent) to escape from the prison where he has been incarcerated. That’s why he makes a hold up to be incarcerated in the same prison. The whole first season shows how they manage to escape. The second season is about their lives on the run and their search for the proof of Lincoln’s innocence.

Here are some descriptions of the main characters (be careful if you haven’t seen the second season, they are some spoilers):

Michael Scofield:

I think he’s the most interesting character of the whole story (not only because he’s very handsome…;-)). He graduated a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, and he worked (before he got arrested) in the company who built the prison. So he managed to see the plans, and to remember them he created a tattoo where he hid the plans (you can see the tattoo on the photo).

The whole first season shows all the tricks he uses to execute his plans. He has to make deals with some inmates, who will escape with him (see below). In each episode Michael has an objective to accomplish and he has only one month to escape, as Lincoln is supposed to be executed one month after Michael entered the prison.

To find the way out of the prison, Michael fakes diabetes, so he needs to go daily in the infirmary, where he meets Sara Tancredi (see below).

In the second season, Michael and the six other escapees have to find a way to hide from the authorities. Michael has already a plan, but only for his brother and him. The other escapees have different goals, so they separate early.

I think the only real friend Michael found in prison is Sucre (see below), so he will help him as much as he can.

Lincoln Burrows:

So he’s the famous brother who will be executed. He’s accused of the murder of the brother of the vice-president. But he’s innocent, as we discover episode by episode.

In the first season, we don’t see him very much as he’s locked in his cell and don’t often go out. He’s very surprised when he sees Michael in the prison for the first time, because he didn’t know anything about Michael’s project.

We more discover his personality in the second season, where he appears in every episode. He’s very strong and supports Michael in every plan he has. He’s determined to find why someone wanted him to go to jail. It appears that the conspiracy comes from the vice-president herself (who becomes the new president as she killed the old one).

He has a son, named LJ (for Lincoln Junior) who has been arrested by the police and set free after, and now he’s safe with a trusted woman.

Fernando Sucre:

It’s Michael’s cellmate. Soon they become friends. Sucre is totally in love with his girlfriend Maricruz. He actually was arrested because he needed money to buy her a ring. At the beginning, Maricruz is visiting him and becomes pregnant, which couldn’t make Sucre happier. He’s planning to be a model inmate in order to reduce his sentence, and then they will get married, etc. The problem is that Hector, Sucre’s cousin is also in love with Maricruz and is proposing to her. She’s wondering what to do as she doesn’t see a future with Sucre. Eventually Hector comes to the prison and reveals to Sucre he’s going to marry Maricruz. It is at this moment that Sucre really begins to help Michael (he wants to get Maricruz back).

In the second season his only goal is to find Maricruz and go to Mexico with her.

Benjamin Miles "C-Note" Franklin:

I like him more and more episode by episode.

In the first season, he’s working in the prison kitchen and is able to find any item for an inmate in exchange of 100$ (in the USA, a 100$ note is called a C-note – that explains his nickname; it’s funny to note that on a C-note, it’s Benjamin Franklin who is drawn on. What an incredible coincidence!!). Michael asks him some PUGNAc to feign diabetes. He discovers the escaping plan and tells the team he’s now part of the project, otherwise he will tell the guards. So in the first season, you don’t like him very much. All the same, you discover he’s been incarcerated because he was a Sergeant in Iraq, discovered illegal torture and tells his superior who asked him to keep this for him. As he refused, his superior dishonourably discharged him.

In the second season, he tries to hide with his family (wife and daughter), but her daughter is sick (she has kidney problems) and can’t stay 2 days without her medics. So her mother goes to the pharmacy but gets arrested (but manages to give the medics to Franklin). But even with medics, is daughter is more and more sick, and Franklin has to go to the hospital, where he is recognised. He finally made a deal with Agent Mahone (see below): he turns himself in and helps finding Scofield and Burrows, and Mahone sets his wife free to take care of his daughter.

Sara Tancredi:

From the beginning of the story we know something will going on between her and Scofield. She’s the doctor of the prison and takes care of Michael’s diabetes. So she sees him every day and discovers he’s not like the others inmates. He’s much more intelligent. She eventually helps him escaping.

In the second season, the Company (the same which incarcerated Lincoln) kills her father – the governor if Illinois – and tries to kill her because they think her father left her something that proves the guilt of the Company. In fact, she only found a key on the floor the day she discovered the corpse.

At first, she doesn’t want to see Michael anymore, but she wants to know who killed her father and eventually helps him.

Agent Alexander Mahone:

He’s the one who is tracking the fugitives. He already killed two (but certainly three, I’m not sure because the last episode I’ve seen is the 18th and he persuaded C-note to commit suicide, but we’re not totally sure he’s dead). We discover that he doesn’t kill the guys because he loves this, but because his boss wants to and threatens him to kill his family if he doesn’t. In the last episode he discovers that Lincoln Burrows is innocent, so maybe some day he will help the escapees…

Paul Kellerman:

In the first season, he is a Company agent and kills all the people outside the prison who want to help Lincoln and Michael. He’s close to the President, and does everything she wants to.

But in the second season, she stops giving him orders and asks one of her agent to do it for her. Paul doesn’t enjoy this at all but keeps doing his job until he looses the trust of his superior because he’s lost Sara (he was supposed to kill her). Then he decides to join Michael’s side and to gain his trust saves him and Lincoln. He helped a lot, but now Sara joined the group, and she remembers the day he tried to kill her…
